Daily devotional: True Prosperity

The blessing of prosperity does not always mean being financially secure and materially wealthy. When granted by the Lord it means genuine contentment, and abundance of tranquility and true peace.

1 Timothy 6:6-7
1 Timothy 6:6-7

“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” 1 Timothy 6:6-9

A life devoid of comparison and envy. Fully capable of being happy for others for what they have and achieve.  It is living a life fully assured that riches go far beyond what could be kept, counted, and accumulated. It is having enough, having satisfaction. True prosperity is knowing God and abounding in His peace.

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 1 Timothy 6:6-15 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: What is your level of life contentment right now? If you feel spiritually low, how can seeking God through His word and prayer repenish you from your emptiness?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that you bestow real prosperity in your people. Give me the confidence, Lord, to take hold of it too, and know what truly matters. Amen.
