Daily devotional: Unstuck

Let us not settle with being stuck. God wants us to move forward with our lives, regardless if we have suffered because of others or due to our own sinfulness. May we stop romanticizing the past. Cease replaying our past mistakes and failures and reliving our nightmares. Muster the courage to let go of our traumas, and the urge to keep grudges. The only way to live the best life God has planned for us is to leave our past behind, move forward, and follow Him.

Romans 8:18
Romans 8:18

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19

Moving on to follow Jesus

The same goes when it comes to deciding to follow Jesus. There are things, people, habits, and mindsets that we do have to leave behind. It will not always be easy, but is doable when we focus on the eternal life we have and the joy of God’s presence in our lives.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

New Creation

As new creations in Christ, we are no longer condemned for our past sins. The moment we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He forgets about the sins we have asked Him to forgive. He no longer associates those sins with us.

And though we may still have to live with the consequences of our past failures, Jesus has already stripped the shame that would keep us from being in God’s presence. He has freed us to live the abundant life He died for us to live.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Thank you for reading our devotional today. Kindly read Luke 17:30-37 for a deeper dive into the topic.

Reflection Question:  Do you feel like you remain stuck on one season in your life? What keeps you from moving forward? How can you offer your fears, anxieties and anger before the Lord so He could help you
move on?

Conversation with the Lord: Heavenly Father, thank you for wanting us to move forward in our lives. For giving us the grace, strength and reason to keep moving forward. Grant us the grace to continue moving
on and following you. Amen.
