The post 7 Budget Ulam Ideas for the week (P150.00 to 200.00 per dish) appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>Hello mommies! I am aiming to start a series on budget-friendly ulam recipes for Filipino families. One of the challenges of being a homemaker is deciding what to cook for the day. Even more challenging is trying to make all the meals fit within the budget.
With this series, I am hoping to add to your arsenal more affordable ulam ideas for the family so that as early as the weekend you already have an idea what to cook for next week, and prepare accordingly in terms of including the ingredients in your weekly shopping list and respective meal plan.
As for the definition of budget friendly, these recipes cost P150.00 to 200.00 for a family of five with children that can already eat adult portions. It is 2023 and food costs have risen considerably, and healthy servings could easily cost P150.00. Of course even if it adds up to Php200, it is still cheaper than ordering from Panda or Grab right?
I have written several blog posts before about P100.00 ulam ideas, however because of inflation and the several years that have passed, it would be better if we could come with an updated version of the recipes given the increase in the cost of ingredients. If you want to see the previous articles on this, please check out our budget recipes section here.
Here is our list of budget ulam ideas for the week:
1. Tinolang Manok — Tinolang Manok is highly nutritious and is not as expensive to prepare. Chicken is about P200 to 220 per kilo, you do not need to buy a full kilogram to feed a family of five. What you can do is buy half a kilo of chicken breast chopped and then half a kilo of soup pack chicken which is only at P120.00 per kilogram. The soup pack pieces add more flavor to the broth, and also comes with a bit of meat. Or you can buy one whole chicken that is not too big, and then have it chopped. The rest of the budget can go to the sayote and the ginger. I am sure you have garlic, oil and onion at home, and some malunggay from the neighbor Here’s a quick and easy Chicken Tinola recipe.
2. Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa — This is another classic filipino dish that is easy on the budget. It is filling too since squash and string beans are filled with fiber. Buy 200g of Pork Giniling or Pork Panggisa which is about P75.00, then one tali of sitaw, and a portion of kalabasa. One small pack of coco mama is less than 35.00 so your budget is A-ok. Here is a recipe I previously posted.
3. Paksiw na bangus with black beans — Bangus is so endemic in the country and is inexpensive. Buy half a kilo to 3/4 kilo of Bangus and slice it. Buy an eggplant and a small amplaya as veggie or some black beans. Fry the bangus first before simmering it in a water-vinegar mixture. Add the ginger, garlic, and eggplant (My mom even likes to add ampalaya to this type of Paksiw) and then bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes uncovered. Once cooked, season with salt and pepper, and add the black beans. adjust seasoning to taste.
4. Fried chicken wings and adobong kangkong — Buy about 3/4 kg of chicken wings. marinate in a bit of calamansi and patis mixture. dredge in a bit of flour to avoid oil splatters. The remaining budget can be used for a side dish — adobong kangkong.
5. Monggo guisado and daing or fried galunggong — Fry some fresh galunggong fish or its daing counterpart. Then make some monggo guisado — make sure to add either chili leaves or malunggay to make it extra healthier!
6. Yummy Tokwa or Tofu Sisig – My kids eat most veggies, and they also enjoy eating other nutritious food like tokwa, so it is easy for me to incorporate it in our weekly meals. For this recipe, use four squares of tokwa (Tokwa is cheaper than tofu). Fry it and set aside. Make the sauce by using good quality mayonnaise, oyster sauce, salt and pepper to taste. Set aside. In a pan, saute onion, garlic, and bell pepper or siling pansigang if you are adding sili. Then add the tokwa. Let the tokwa absorb the infused oil before adding the sauce mixture. Serve with a smile!
7. Deep fried salmon belly and eggplant salad –– Salmon belly flaps in our grocery sells for around P150.00. Season with salt and pepper, then dredge in a bit of flour, then deep fry or pan fry to a crunch in used cooking oil. Boil or steam or grill some eggplants, peel and then top with sliced onions and tomatoes and seasoned vinegar! You’ve got yourself a yummy lunch there!
Hope you picked up a thing or two (or everything) in our list for the week. Just a tip, I am not being haughty or proud about my parenting skills (I am far from being a perfect mom) but one of the best decisions I made as a mother is to train my children to eat veggies. This is an investment on their health, which pays off as well in terms of budget. Having said that if your kids are still very picky I suggest that you start with foregoing the urge to cook a special ulam or dish for them just to get them to eat whenever the ulam is veggie based or is something they would not eat. If they go hungry, they will eat it. And it takes heart, patience and practice.
At this point, please allow me to share with you one of my favorite bible verses as a mom. It is from the Letter of St. Paul to Titus:
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”
Titus 2:3-5

]]>The post Easy burger steak with mushroom gravy recipe appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>Hello fellow mommies! Sharing with you the quick and easy lunch I prepared recently. It is a basic burger steak recipe with mushroom gravy. I know I will not have much time to cook that day so the night before I decided to just thaw our ground beef and make this easy but very yummy dish.
It is very easy to do. All you need to do is to season the ground beef with salt and pepper. You can also use whatever herbs your kids and husband like. For instance you may put in garlic or onion powder, paprika, or even parsley. Whatever works for you!
Combine and form burger patties. Yes it is just that, no other ingredients like eggs, or binders nor extenders. Just pure 100% beef goodness. I usually use an at least 80-20 lean to fat ratio. But if you are not so much concerned about the cholesterol levels then by all means get the wagyu ground beef which is just so yummy!
Anyway, form balls first and gently press down the size of your palms. Do not make it too thin nor too thick. Think of your favorite burger restaurant and aim for the thickness of their patties. Set aside.
Drizzle cooking oil in a pan and melt some butter. Pan fry the patties, about three minutes per side. Do not press it down nor try to flip it in less than two minutes because the patty may crumble. Set aside once cooked. You may cover in foil if you wish.
The mushroom gravy is equally easy to make! Here are the ingredients:
Mushroom Gravy Ingredients:
Saute the mushroom in melted butter. Tun off the heat. Combine the ingredients and make sure that the mixture is free from lumps. Turn on the heat, and bring to a boil. Add one tablespoon of butter. Simmer for a minute or two and adjust seasoning accordingly.
Thank you and I hope you will like this easy recipe. If you are on the lookout for more easy dishes to prepare, I hope you can find the time to check out the recipes section of our blog here.
At this point I hope you can allow me to share with you another bible passage that continues to inspire me. This time it is from the Book of Psalms:
āFor you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherās womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.ā
Psalm 139:13-14
Thank you so much for stopping by and till next post!

]]>The post Month-long P100.00 Weekly Filipino Budget Meal Plan Challenge appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>Like my Filipino weekly meal plans, this Month Long P100.00 Weekly Filipino Budget Meal Plan Challenge is long overdue. I may have not promised you a timeline as to when Ill publish this, but this has been in my āto writeā list for the longest time. As you know, we have been publishing annually P100.00 Budget Ulam Ideas, and these blog entries have consistently been topping our stats. Which now brings me to this four-week meal plan challenge.
The Filipino meal plans that I will be featuring in this blog post all cost P100.00 to prepare. Hence I call this set ā the P100 Meals Month Long Challenge. Yes, all the dishes here can be prepared under P100.00 ā enabling you, my fellow homemakers to stretch the family finances further.
Disclaimer though in these P100 meal plans is that there could possibly be some variations in pricing depending on:
Another helpful way to achieve the P100.00 target expense for every ulam is to have a pantry that is well stocked. Condiments like pepper, salt, paprika, soy sauce, cooking oil, vinegar, bay leaf, hot sauce, patis or whatnot is assumed to be available in the cupboard. Other ingredients like black beans, cornstarch, flour, peas, raisins, ketchup, oyster sauce, or butter can be considered āinvestment ingredientsā because you do not get to use up all of the contents of a single package for the recipe, and you can use the remaining contents for future dishes. Ingredients though like a whole can of evaporated milk, all-purpose cream, pineapple juice, tomato sauce, pineapple tidbits or slices, cheese, soda, or the like are computed together with the other ingredients to make it to the P100.00 ulam target.
So what I am saying is the cost can be a give or take P20.00 less or P20.00 more due to the above-mentioned factors. If you are not convinced that the recipe will just cost you a hundred, then by all means skip it and just browse our other pages for more budget meal recipes or choose from any of the meals in the weekly Filipino Meal Plan included in this challenge and just make a ārepeat performanceā the day it is scheduled.

So without further ado, here are the four meal plans, representing each week of our four-week P100.00 Weekly Filipino Budget Meal Plan Challenge. Pinoy weekly meal plan #1 features yummy heavy breakfasts that will surely perk up the whole family. It also features veggie and meat recipes. A great budget saving tip I have learned as a mother of three is to utilize left overs. Either you serve it a second time, or re-purpose the food for the next meal. Just make sure that left overs are immediately packed in a vacuum-sealed container and refrigerated or frozen accordingly.
If you find it hard to save the meal plan from the website, please do not hesitate to head over to our Facebook Page because most likely, by the time you are reading this, I have already uploaded the album for this 100 Peso Ulam Monthly Challenge of ours.
Going back, hereās the matrix for our second week.
If you notice, I have included afternoon merienda in our weekly meal plan. This is because this is is really one thing that we cannot skip especially if we have children coming home from school. Most of the merienda items that I have specified are either available in groceries, supermarkets, and palengkes or your neighborhood panaderia or bakery.
Hereās our third meal plan, in our month-long P100.00 Budget Ulam Recipes.
Our last meal plan also has select Pinoy recipes, that could even be comfort food for some. For vegetables, check out blanching techniques, or even wrapping veggies in brown paper to keep it fresher for a weekly shopping interval.
So there you have it. I hope I have somehow helped you plan budget-friendly meals for at least a month-long period. If you have suggestions or new P100.00 budget meal ideas do let me know, you can reach me via FB or IG.
Again I will endeavor to resume my weekly posting of meal plans. I will be updating as well the meal plan album on our FB Page so if you have time, and you want a compilation you can save on your mobile devices, please check out our FB album here.

]]>Been a long time since my last weekly meal plan post, and I am really sorry. Life and motherhood happens and so I can hardly type in front of my computer when my two nurslings are up and about, and when the eldest has exams and assignments to finish.
Anyway, I would like to share with you the Filipino meal plan that I have drafted for the week. I strive harder this time to include fish dishes as they are easier to cook, and are healthier compared to fried meals and red meats.
As always, I have taken into consideration left overs, as well as days where meals will be mostly using up left overs in the refrigerator. Food should be consumed within two to three days to avoid spoilage and food poisoning, thus if you are cooking in big batches, the food has to be frozen after it has cooled to room temperature.
Overnight oats are also amazing, because all you have to do is to make sure that you have oatmeal and some dried fruits like raisins and dried mangoes in your refrigerator, and this should be a go-to-quick and healthy breakfast for everyone. It is such an easy breakfast to prepare because as the name suggests, you have to make it the night before! Caution though on the use of honey for babies, so skip that drizzle if you would be giving them some of this quick brekky.

Chicken Lomi meantime is new to me. This will be an experiment on my part as it will be the first time I will be using fresh noodles sold in grocery stores. I was actually inspired by a mom I follow over at IG (@jennyhennypot) who cooks fresh noodles for her children. Hopefully it will be a success for us because my three littles are noodle monsters.
Again I will endeavor to resume my weekly posting of meal plans. I will be updating as well the meal plan album on our FB Page so if you have time, and you want a compilation you can save on your mobile devices, please check out our FB album.

]]>The post Filipino Weekly Meal Plan Recipes 2017 June 05 appeared first on Happy Pinay Mommy.
]]>Hi Everyone, sharing with you our new, more comprehensive (and revitalized —hahaha) Filipino Weekly Meal Plan Recipes 2017 June 05 to June 11. Hopefully this could help those of you who may not have mapped out their Filipino Weekly Menu as of yet.
Starting this week I will be cascading a more comprehensive meal plan as I will be sharing with you as well, the meals I will be making for our baby, toddler, pre-schooler, as well as our grade-schooler.
If you may notice, most of the packed lunch meal for grade schooler is the same thing that the family will be having for lunch. This is of course to save on prep time, as well as the electricity used for cooking the meals. This will also minimize left-overs and save on our food budget. Check out out baon recipe suggestions in this post.
The meal suggestions for the baby/toddler is meant for BLW babies hence most of the suggested meal items are just unseasoned versions of what the whole family is having. Of course just mind the portion slices depending on the age of your baby, and the weaning method of your baby. Make your own adjustments as well if you follow Tamang Kain principles ā although most of the food in the weekly pinoy meal plan above adhere to that.
(Post Continued Below)
=====================================================================
=====================================================================
I have also taken into consideration the suggested school baon recipes that I have included in our back-to-school bundle of blogposts which you may find here.
Some of the recipes, as always, are part of our under P100.00 ulam recipes, in our yearly series.
If you are overwhelmed with the meal plan and would think that it would just leave you slaving in your kitchen the whole day, then you may want to batch cook what you can and just freeze what can be frozen. Here is previous blog post on freezer meals and weekly meal preparation. For instance, pancakes can be frozen in zip lock bags for reheating when needed. This will be very helpful during hurried crazy mornings, or as baon for your little school kids.
Some lunch baons for your gradeschoolers may also need preparation the night befor (like the thawing and breading of porkchop and the tortang talong), but that advanced preparations will leave you worriless the next day because you will just have to fry the above-mentioned pinoy ulam.
I also tend to cook pinoy food that is good for 2-3 meals so that I could save and freeze some for later use, or eat the same ulam at night when everything is going crazy in the household.
Anyway, till next week!

]]>Hi there ladies! Pardon my two month hiatus in posting meal plans. Will try my very best to regularly update our Filipino Menu Plan every end of the week to help you out as well in your grocery shopping.
So before I explain some of the choices I made for our weekly ulam recipes, here is our meal plan for the week —
For this week, I started labeling lunches also as grade-schoolerās baon. Some of us may already have a gradeschooler, and honestly, thinking of what to pack for lunch can be time-consuming so it better be planned as well ( i by the way have school lunch baon recipe ideas here). To hit two birds with one stone, whatever is for breakfast or lunch that day, shall also be the gradeschoolerās lunch. I am most likely to lean on the lunch menu being similar with that of the gradeschoolerās baon since either the gradeschooler already ate the same breakfast OR we have been constrained to pack it for them so they could eat it while on the way to school. Given the very lousy traffic situation in the morning, children may no longer have time to sit down and finish their breakfasts as they would rather sleep some more, and at the same time be in school on time. Some moms, they pack the breakfast so that the kids can eat it on the way to school, or upon arrival.

āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā
As you can see, some ulams indicated are left-overs to ensure that no food and money will be wasted. It is disheartening to see food going to waste just because family members forgot about it in the ref, or they simply have not been trained to eat left overs.
The Tuna nuggets recipe, I learned from some of my social media friends ā it is cheap and easy, just cans of shredded tuna, some crumbed crackers, egg and then cooking oil for frying. Easy and a hit with the children! Mind you it can be a baon or a meryenda or a lunch!
So there you have it. Hope ill be able to help you plan out your ulam meals for the coming week.

]]>Hi there ladies! Been a long time since I posted a weekly meal plan, and I apologize for that. Will try my very best to regularly update our Filipino Menu Plan every Friday.
So before I elaborate on the Filipino weekly menu, here is our meal plan for the week —
For this week, I have included some make ahead and easy lunches like the ready to fry Lumpiang Shanghai and ready to boil Almondigas. The ground pork mixture for these recipes are almost the same. Besides, you can make two more batches and just freeze them for later use in the coming weeks ahead. Same with the Bolognese sauce which can also be frozen, and can be used next week for macaroni casserole.

The BBQ Chicken Thighs is pan-grilled and is so easy to cook you just have to cook it in the pan with the marinade. Pork Sinigang is very easy as well and can be overloaded with veggies.
As for the dinners, the Kare-Kare is a happy Sunday thought that I look forward to make. I have just recently unlocked this achievement of being able to cook this semi-complicated dish so I practice it when I can, and when we crave for it.

I also continue to recycle ulam entries like the chicken adobo that became crispy adobo flakes the next morning, as well as the Fried Tilapia becoming sarciado later in the evening. This plus re-serving lunches together with another ulam for dinner to save on costs and at the same time avoid food wastage.
For the choco jelly, it essentially uses the coffee jelly recipe i mentioned in this post, but i have substituted coffee with chocolate-based ingredients to make it kid-friendly.

]]>Hi Ladies,
It is a Friday once again, and here I am sharing with you our meal plan for the coming week, September 7-14, 2015. Hopefully, this could help all of you map out your family’s meals for the coming week, streamline your grocery list for tomorrow or Sunday, and lessen the stress of thinking what meals to prepare for your loved ones.
For this week, I am trying my best to get more fruits to my family, that is why i am incorporating most of the fruits for breakfast. If you will also notice, not much pork this week. I originally wanted too cook humba, but hello, i am not sure on how to go about it, and i have yet to know if there ever is a pressure cooker that i could use in my induction cooker?? Or maybe i should just get a microwave pressure cooker so i could use it on my microwave??
I also failed this week to fully get rid of processed foods because of my family’s craving for Delimondo Corned Beef, so that is what we are having for Monday. The Arroz a la Cubana, I scheduled for Saturday since it requires a longer prep time, plus you would need to fry the bananas first.
(Post continued below)
=======================================================================================
====================================================================================================
I also incorporated some of the less than P100.00 Ulam recipes that i have published a week ago i think. This is the Munggo Guisado and the Banana Heart Patties.Ā Check out the post here, to see the recipes/procedures. I also included one of the fish recipes i have mentioned in my post on “Fish Recipes your meat-loving kid will like”. As well as the Meatball Spaghetti i Included on my post in Pasta Recipes the kids will love.
As for the meryenda themes, if you will notice most are street-foods or those that you can buy from stalls. But since food poisoning is so rampant nowadays (i wrote about how to avoid food poisoning some two weeks ago, click here if you’ve missed it), i wanted my little familia to enjoy these types of food safely. Anyway, there are reputable frozen packed goodies available in your favorite supermarket so go and just get those.
So there you have it, do not forget to buy skewer sticks, as well as those laminated paper containers used in street food stalls, so that your family would really get the feel of eating street food. And why not whip up your own black gulaman while you are at it?
Hope you could follow me on facebook, so you’d never miss the happypinaymommy.com’s weekly meal plan, plus fresh posts straight from your newsfeed.

If you will notice, we continue on serving left-overs for dinner as well as easy breakfasts on crazy Monday mornings. This is again to save on time and money — MOMS ARE BUSY!!!
I have also made Sunday extra special with an Arroz Caldo with Egg breakfast. This is really not hard to cook especially on a Sunday. Beef Tacos is a happy family meal for me which brings back fun childhood memories. My mom makes mean tacos!!! Super yummy. An ice cream meryenda will not hurt too!!!
So print out the entire meal plan, or choose meals which your family will fancy and draft that grocery list! It is a payday long weekend so expect promos and sales in the supermarket and take advantage of those.
If you want to generate your own meal plans check out this Meal Plan Kit , that is very helpful.

]]>Hi Ladies! It is a Friday once again, and it is time to post the Happy Pinay Mommy weekly meal plan for the coming week.
As committed to all of you, i will try my best to help you out in planning your meals for the upcoming week, as well is in getting you grocery list ready for your grocery shopping or palengke duties over the weekend.
If you will notice, the Monday breakfast is fairly easy, simply because we all know how crazy Monday mornings tend to be. For lunch I included hearty chicken sopas, not just because of the weather, but because Achi can live off of it and i will have a ready snack each time. Just a fair warning mommies, if you intend keep some for meryenda or have left overs, immediately refrigerate it since sopas spoils easily. I actually wrote about preventing food poisoning early this week, you may wanna check it out here. Anyway, going back to the Chicken Sopas, I usually keep our make ahead Chicken Sopas in ball mason jars like this, which for your convenience, should be just purchased by the crate! It has many uses! It helps me serve make ahead meals on a single serve basis.

Tuesday is nearby bakery day. Whether you buy your breads from the grocery over the weekend, or buy your baked goods in the nearby posh bakery or your favorite neighborhood panaderya, Tuesday is the day for the bread lover in you. As for the hamburger steak, it can be made from your favorite frozen patties, or one that is made from scratch. Same goes with the gravy.
Boiled Sweet Corn is one favorite afternoon snack from my childhood, and i am just glad that it can be bought now even from supermarkets. This week we also have recycles and repeats to save on our grocery budget and at the same time maximize our time. Chicken Tinola is great — so you may just want to split the malunggay or sili leaves you will be using for the recipe so that you can have fresh ones when you reheat for dinner.
The Fried banana meryenda reminds me of my dad who just so loves grilled or fried bananas with Roquefort Bleu Cheese. For it to be kid-friendly, may be we could just pair it with cream cheese, or even Chiz Whiz if that is what we have in the house.
So there you have it, feel free to bookmark or print out our meal plan. If you wish to always receive a copy, you may want to subscribe to our blog, or the easiest way — like us on our Facebook Page. Looking forward as well for your feedback!

]]>Hi Mommies!!
It has been a rainy week for us which is kinda ironic because some areas in Metro Manila experienced epic water interruptions.
Anyway, hope you have read my posts on yummy soups for the rainy season. I recently came up with a post on soup recipes for breastfeeding mommies and i am again wanting to have a taste of the Sinigang sa Miso my mom cooks.
You may have noticed that like the last time i have been carrying over a lot of the lunches to dinner because Achi and I can recycle ulam. It is not just time-saving, but economical too. And with the many cases of food poisoning, it could be scary to recycle food for days even if it is refrigerated. You may also want to check out this meal plan organizer that you can order online.

Anyway, i am getting excited as well about the Salisbury Steak. For me, is just a fancy term for Hamburger Steak. As you know even if I am in a rush, there are meals I would really like to make from scratch. Hamburger steak is one of those.
Ill share with you my “tancha-tancha” recipe of that soon.

]]>Hi Mommies!
Sharing with you our meal plan for the week. Certainly hoping thisĀ is no too late to help you with your weekly meal preparation and grocery shopping.
As busy moms wanting to prepare good food for the whole family, we all have to be intentional when it comes to planning our meals for the week. Not having enough food supply ingredients at home usually leads us to getting take out or food deliveries, which are not only expensive, it is usually unhealthy.
If you will notice, I have ācarried overā almost all lunch meals into dinner or just added a side dish, or gave it a twist. This will not just help us save up on food costs, it also minimizes food wastage.
Again, I am still working on including more meatless meals into our weekly meal plan, and I am hoping that I could really implement at least two meatless days a week. Meatless meals are not just nutritious, they are very affordable too!
=========================================================
====================================================================
My favorite part in this weekās meal plan is the snack portion. I discovered Toasted Siopao, and I didnāt know that it could be really tasty! I have always been a siopao fan and the toasted siopao that I have access too is extra yummy compared to those that I have tasted in the past! I also included bakery ensaymada ā you know the yellow one smothered with margarine and sprinkled with so much sugar (as opposed to the soshal ones with grated queso de bola, or quick melt cheese ā because it transports me back in time when I was doing field work every day, and there is this neighborhood bakery we frequent on the way to my āpostā at that time. Yummy. Sometimes, it is not the taste but the comfort and memories the food brings.

]]>Pardon me for not being able to post meal plans for the past two weeks. Our family allergies got out of hand and turned into viral sending our household into colds and endless coughing fits.
Anyway, we are all slowly getting better and i am slowly getting my groove back – schedule wise. So since it is a Thursday, I will be sharing with you, as usual, our Happy Pinay Mommy Meal Plan for next week.
If you are not too keen on some of the meals, or have food allergies, you may want to check out our past weekly meal plans here, and choose from there.
If this is your first time to get hold of a Happy Pinay Mommy Weekly Meal Plan, you will notice that some of the meals are recycled — like lunch carried over to dinners, or lunch left-overs cooked slightly different for dinner such as the Fried Tilapia Lunch, that will be converted into Escabeche. This is again a way to save time and money, because whether you work outside the home, work from home, or stay at home — time is of the essence for us moms.
Again, i have included store-bought meryendas, like frozen siopao, rice cakes, oatmeal cookies etc. Most of us moms need this because we may not have the time, ability, or the tools to cook some of these from scratch. Most of the meals i included are also batch-cooking friendly like the lumpiang shanghai (which you can make in advance the day you shopped for the ground pork — the frozen, ready-to-fry lumpia you will make can last up to two weeks in your freezer),Ā the chicken adobo, and even the banana heart patties (i suggest though that you just buy this one at the echo store).

]]>Hi Fellow Mommies!
Pardon the 36-hour delay of posting of our Weekly Meal Plan. I hope this post is not too late to help you plan out your meals for the coming week. It was a very busy week in the home front for me as my whole family is still reeling from the flu we all contracted the other week. (You may want to read this if your baby has colds right now)
Anyway, about the meal plan, I am really craving for tinolang halaan, but I really do not know which supermarket carries it fresh. Maybe I just miss those Sunday lunches when after my mom comes home from her weekly palengke shopping at Farmerās Market, we would have either the tinolang halaan, or the hilabos na talangka.
I do not even know if I could do that for my family. Oh well, in time.
I ventured into putting in Palitaw as one of this weekās meryenda, because I have always wanted to have a palitaw making activity with Achi. I have always enjoyed making palitaw and bilo-bilo with my inay back then, but since I do not know how to make ginataang bilo-bilo yet, the next best thing is making palitaw. Apparently, you can just buy the glutinous rice flour from Shopwise, have coconut shavings from there as well, and buy sesame seeds. I am so excited, because i am sure Achi will enjoy rolling and flattening those glutinous rice balls!
Anyway, most of the meryendas i included for this week can be store-bought, as I have yet to acquire my dream oven. In time, fellow mommies, you will just notice that I am suddenly posting baking experiments and channeling my inner Anna Olson. When that happens, #alam niyo na.
Till our next meal plan, ladies!
Here is a video you may want to check out, cooking my cravig du jour, tinolang halaan:

]]>Hi Mommies, as promised, here is our Weekly Meal Plan to help you with your shopping list and in planning what you will be serving your family this coming week.
Weekly Meal planning helps us a lot in terms of saving on our grocery budget, and at the same time, in preparing meals for the rest of the week.
=======================================
=====================================================================================
Again, I am trying to incorporate more meatless meals here. Most of the meals though reflect the ingredients that I have in our pantry, freezer and ref.
I am actually kind of excited over doing a full blown Arroz ala Cubana over the weekend. I am hoping I could buy nice saba bananas, because sometimes all I see in the supermarket are unripe ones. I will soon be experimenting on making minatamis na saba, because I absolutely love saba con hielo. I am just really scared about washing my pot. Will the sugar stick or what?
You may also get in touch with me through my facebook page.

I try to include as much vegetables as i can, and i figured one of the best ways to incorporate veggies so that they could be eaten by my little familia is to incorporate a lot in the main meals, like in sinigang or tinola. Instead of just putting in sayote i try hard to put in malunggay and sayote, and in sinigang, all the veggies that can be cooked with it like gabi, talong, kangkong, and raddish. I also try hard to include a lot of meatless meals (i have here some recipe for meatess meals), in my meal plan for the week.
As usual i am trying hard to have healthy and quick breakfast for the family. I want of course my whole family to have nutritious food. Ill try harder next time to commit to a week of no convenience food, but as a part-time work from home mom with no help this feat is kinda hard, so feel free to substitute healthier recipes.

]]>As promised, ill be sharing with you my weekly meal plan to help you in your daily food preparation in the coming week.
Ill try hard to post my weekly meal plan every thursday or friday, in time for yourĀ your grocery shopping for the weekend.
Like what i said my post on meal preparation (which you by the way, can read here), we are still a work in progress when it comes to eating nutritious meals. I try hard to incorporate as much vegetables and fish as i can, but i am only human that i still fall for convenience foods in my meal planning activities. Hopefully you could see progress in the weekly meal plans that i will be posting. The operative word, dear mommies, is HOPEFULLY.
ALSO, not everything in the meal plans i will be posting are made from scratch. As you may already now know, i don’t have help so i take advantage of delicious and HOPEFULLY nutritious convenience foods. I will endeavor to let you know which of the meals here are convenience foods.
It will also include left-overs for some meals so that we don’t waste food. Typically if we like the viand, we are okay with eating it again
Hopefully, this will help you can just print this out if you and your family will like the meals that are in there :)The convenience food that are included in this weekly meal plan are the following:
1. Mamon, Lava Cake, Oatmeal with Choco Chip Cookies– we don’t have an oven so i definitely could not bake these myself. Soon oven, soon.
2. Longganisa — We love this brand that sells Regional Longganisa
3. Bottled Sardines — The Spanish Tomato Sardines are just yummy and comforting whether with rice or pandesal.
4. Corned Beef — Hihi we just love a brand of chili corned beef with white label
5. Vienna Sausage for the french toast breakfast
6. Tocino (we like the young, fatless and salitre-free tocino endorsed by one happy comedian)
7. Of course a healthy convenience food — YOGURT
8. Canned Tuna for the pasta meal
I hope you could also stop by the COOKING page of my website, for some easy to prepare meals. also wrote about saving up on grocery shopping, and you may wanna check it out here, and for the Pinoy Market version, you may check out the money-saving tips here.
Hope you could share as well your easy to cook recipes with us, just like what i did here.
