Daily devotional: Monday reminders

As we start the new week, let us embrace truths about who we are, and how our God really sees us. Too often, we are enveloped in doubts, shame, and even our own sinfulness that we fail to feel His presence in our lives.

2 Peter 3:9
2 Peter 3:9

Let us not start our Monday with the usual grind, of tackling every task and chore that needs to be done, and then zoning out to drown our weariness, our feelings, and our current emotional burdens.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

We are all invited to rest in Jesus, and be at His table. He has set for us a feast that will not only nourish our soul, it will also cleanse us so that we could be reconciled once again with the Heavenly Father. No ifs, no buts, we are invited to be saved from a life of lies, a life of sinfulness that continues to hold us hostage in a cycle of darkness and depression.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

And as we go through this new week, we should remember that we are always welcome to be at God’s table. We are never too late. Never too broken. Never too sinful to not be invited.

God loves us, and He is too strong and too powerful to get tired of calling us back to Him. We do not have the capacity to tire Him out or use up all the patience, grace, and mercy that He has for each of us.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

And so let us not waste this day listening to the devil’s lies that we can never experience peace and joy again because we made a mistake. That we cannot live life anew because we have already messed up our life big time. Or because we have been terribly wronged, or we have serious health issues, or that we have not been raised well.

God is the God of second, third, fourth, fifth and X-number of chances. He will not run out of chances to give. The world may reject us but He never will.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

Thank you for reading through our devotional today. I invite you to ponder on 2 Peter 3:9-13 to dig deeper on today’s topic.

Reflection Question: Do you sometimes feel that you cannot go before the Lord because of your past or your sinfulness? How can knowing that He first loved us, and He continues to invite us to Him change your perspective?

Conversation with the Lord: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your relentless call to reconcile ourselves to You. Thank you for not getting fed up over our obstinacy and sinfulness. Give us the grace and confidence to fully come to step away from our sinful lives, and start living our lives for you. Amen.
