I have been breastfeeding non-stop since I became a mom, and Malunggay has helped me a lot in keeping my supply up. Malunggay iced tea for breastfeeding is a great companion for me, providing a good alternate to ice cold water. Pumping back when i was still working and I only had one child, nursing through pregnancy, and now tandem breastfeeding — malunggay iced tea has always been my drink of choice.
Malunggay Iced Tea for Breastfeeding
And while there are a lot of malunggay concoctions out there like ready to drink teas, juice concentrate, malunggay powder and malunggay capsule, im sure some of you may still be curious if you can make some on your own.
As we know, malunggay trees are aplenty in our country. Check out a vacant lot and chances are there is a malunggay tree growing there. We may not have a malunggay tree in our community but some relatives have in their backyard and they joyfully share the leaves (and sometimes the fruit for ulam), with us when we go visit them.

Ingredients for Malunggay Iced Tea for Breastfeeding Moms:
1 cup of malunggay leaves
3 cups of water
Half a cup of brown sugar filuted in half a cup of water
Lemon or Calamansi (optional)
Steps in Preparing Malunggay Tea:
1. In a sauce pan, pour the brown sugar and water.
2. Boil the mixture, and simmer until it turns into a syrup.
3. Set aside.
4. In a separate pot, pour in the three cups of water, and the washed malunggay leaves.
5. Bring to a boil, and simmer for about three minutes.
6. Cool for a bit, and then strain into glass jars or pitchers.
7. Add a tablespoon of syrup per glass or adjust to your taste preference. You can also use pure honey if you wish.
8. If you prefer, you can also add a squeeze of lemon or calamansi, depending on your taste preference.
9. Pour over ice and serve!
What I usually do is I pour the tea in a glass pitcher, refrigerate it and drink throughout the day. The syrup on the other hand, i transfer to a glass jar so i could use as needed. This malunggay iced tea for breastfeeding moms can keep for about two to three days in the refrigerator.
Malunggay Iced Tea for Kids
Another great thing about this is that you can always share this with your kids if they ask for some because it is clean-tasting and healthy! Nothing beats freshed iced tea, really.
Malunggay means more savings
Since malunggay supplements can come with a price, this iced tea is surprisingly super cheap to make! You would not even spend P15.00 for a liter. I cannot count how many benefits it would bring but malunggay iced tea is indeed a great drink for the whole family.
