Are you getting tired of your usual steamed or Sinigang na Hipon recipe?
I remember that as a child, I would never get tired of eating shrimps. Now that I am an adult though, I’d want to venture into tasting more recipes for this yummy seafood. I however have to balance this with the fact that the recipe should be easy and quick too cook given the many responsibilities of running a household and a happy blog like this (hihi). Anyway, so why not share my recipe research with you ladies??
WARNING, these are all easy to prep so do not expect a prawn-thermidore level recipe here.
Here are quick and easy Filipino Shrimp Recipes you may want to give a try:
- Aligue Hipon sa Gata – A Hands-down favorite in the home which does not take thirty minutes to make. I have tried this a couple of times and it has always been a hit. When we are vacationing in the States, I cook this for relatives – I just bring in canned Premium Crab Fat like that of Navarro’s. Here is the recipe that I follow.
- Sweet and Chili Shrimp =– I grew up eating at a Chinese restaurant in Greenhills that has chili shrimp that is oh so yummy. This is a good recipe that I discovered from Salu-Salo.com!

- Garlic Butter Pepper Shrimps – If you want to up the halabos recipe several notches higher then you may want to try this. To make it even quicker and easier to cook, I ask my friendly seafood stall attendant in Hypermart to remove the hipon’s bigote na so I would just have to wash it at home. Just boil the washed shrimps in sprite. Add salt and pepper. Remove from the pan when shrimp changes color. In a separate frying pan, add a dash of olive oil, two tablespoons of butter, half a head of minced garlic (yes, that many!), and then add in the shrimps. Season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes.
- Adobong Hipon sa Gata — Now this one is an exotic recipe that ou may want to give a try. The ingredients are fairly easy to source and prep so it is not too complicated even to those who are fairly new to cooking. Check out this recipe from Panlasang Pinoy.
